Supported Entrepreneurship Program

A Program for Survivors of a Brain Injury who want to develop a small business or an entrepreneurial project Our Philosophy is YOU!
• Have you ever wanted to set your own hours of work?
• Have you ever dreamed about running your own business?
• Do you want to work but do not have the stamina to work full time?
• Do you want to supplement your income from AISH?
• Do you want to make money from your hobby?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, we want to hear from you.

The Supported Entrepreneurship Program is for YOU if you are:
• An unemployed Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) recipients in the Calgary Region.
• At least 18 years old and self-identify as a survivor of an acquired brain injury
• Able to work a minimum of 5 hours per week with assistance and supports that is reduced over time
• A Canadian citizen or landed immigrants and are eligible to work in Canada
• Experiencing difficulties accessing and maintaining employment on an independent basis due to their disability

What will we help YOU with:
This service aims to enhance the quality of life of AISH recipients by assisting you to overcome workplace challenges associated with your brain injury. We will:
• Help to develop a career plan that will meet your specific needs, interests, and abilities.
• Assist and support you to develop a realistic career path.
• Develop an appropriate business plan that leads to a sustainable business or entrepreneurial venture.
• Assist you in developing the personal skills needed to acquire and retain employment.
• We work with you and if necessary your family, doctors, health care professionals, lawyers or insurance companies to complete an intake assessment to help discover what supports you need.

Referrals for Service
Anyone can make a referral to the program.

Survivors can refer themselves; they can be referred by other agencies, AISH, health care professionals, a family member or a friend.

 

This pilot project is made possible by funding through Alberta Seniors and Community Supports AISH Program.
